Bay Racers Indoor Games 2012 will be held on March 10 & 11th at the Mare Island Sports Center in Vallejo, CA. Entries are due on Sunday, February 19, 2012.

This weekend in Sacramento marked the end of our racing season. Although we had many challenges to work out, we had a very successful year! Here is a summary of some of our successes:

• 5 First-Place finishes, 4 Second-Place, 6 Third-Place, and 1 Fourth-Place finish; placing in every tournament we entered this year! This includes an amazing Third-Place finish last Saturday by the “Just Jack Jack” team! (Thanks to some help from Pawdemonium)
• We did all this with no more than 5, and sometimes as few as 3, people at a tournament! Fortunately, other clubs were always willing to help us out! Special thanks to Pawdemonium for supplying box loaders, dogs, and lots more!
• Our two puppies, Dobby & Jack Jack, had a great start to their racing careers. Dobby took advantage of her earlier birthday to get into the ring early and often, and actually was able to race this year! For our last tournament of the year, she even stepped up to cover for an injured Buster and ran full time all weekend! Jack Jack got his own team for the last tournaments of the year, which let us all focus on his warm-ups. By this last weekend, he was able to do full-runs and stay in his own lane, even with the distractions of the other teams! Yay, puppies!
• Believe it or not, we hosted two full tournaments this year! Fortunately, we had Jeff to help us, so it wasn’t just us five. But we managed two weekends at Mare Island, the second unlimited, and finally were successful in using Karen Oleson’s software “live.” Other clubs have already asked us to help at their tables!
• Our tiny club actually managed to put on two demos this year! Borrowing people and dogs from Pawdemonium and Mad Dogs, we were able to do the huge demo at the AKC Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show at the Cow Palace in January. And in April, we hosted a large demo at the UC Davis Picnic Day, with four clubs and eleven teams attending! All new dogs, including our puppies, got plenty of work done at these two demos.
• We held a workshop in September, with four very promising dog candidates and people now practicing with us! Who knows, we may double in size for our next tournament in January!

We ended the year with some big titles:

Tasha’s Flyball Grand Champion – 60,000 (FGDCh-60K) Award

Buster’s Flyball Grand Champion – 60,000 (FGDCh-60K) Award

Taz’s Flyball Grand Champion – 50,000 (FGDCh-50K) Award

Bay Racers “Summer Indoor Games” Tournament is next weekend! The racing schedules for both days, in both PDF and Excel formats, are now posted to the Tournament page.

Bay Racers Flyball Club is now accepting enrollment for our next introductory workshop! The workshop will be held Sunday, September 18, in Hayward. The cost is $150 for the 5-hour workshop (lunch included), but we are offering a limited-time discount of $50 to handlers who volunteer a half day (or more) at our tournament on August 13 and 14 in Vallejo.

This is a fast-paced workshop for well-trained dogs and their handlers who are interested in learning to compete in flyball.

Bay Racers Indoor Games 2011 will be held on August 13th & 14th at the Mare Island Sports Center in Vallejo, CA. Entries closed on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.

We received a nice number of entries: 25 teams on Saturday and 26 on Sunday, so we will be running the usual number of heats per team (approx 24 heats). Thank you everyone for your patience in this experiment!

Hotel, RV, Food, and Restaurant Information is updated and now posted. Please note that RVs cannot park before 6pm on Friday, and Set-up cannot start before 9:30pm. This is the Sports Center busy season and the basketball court will be in use until 9pm. Thank you again for your cooperation!

Bay Racers “Indoor Games” Tournament is this weekend! The Welcome Letter and racing schedules are now posted to the Tournament page.

Some highlights from the Welcome Letter:

• RV’s cannot park on site until after 6pm on Friday
• Crating Area is available for setup after 9pm on Friday
• Doors Open at 7am on Saturday and Sunday

The forecast is for rain, so please bring towels for your dogs. And be careful, as the floor gets really slippery when wet! You are welcome to bring small electric heaters; bring extension cords, and please be careful for your team and others with the cords.
