Requirements
|
This
is a fast-paced workshop for well-trained dogs who are interested
in learning to compete in flyball. If your dog has been through
at least two other training classes (clicker training, obedience,
agility, flyball, etc.), you may be a candidate for this class.
Clicker-training is a real plus for this class, as is some previous
exposure to flyball.
Contact
us if you think you and your dog may
qualify. As always, we use strictly positive, Robbins-based
methods.
|
| Bring
to Class |
- Your
dog, on leash
- Your
dog's recall toy
- Proof
of vaccination against Rabies
- A
flat dog collar and harness
- A
comfortable leash (4-6 foot), no Flexis
- Treats
and a clicker
- Chair,
water for both you & your dog, water bowl, poop bags
- Please
wear comfortable shoes and clothes, flyball is an athletic dog
sport (for both of you)
- A
crate or x-pen where your dog can rest between exercises
|
| Rules
and Format |
- We
will spend most of our class working on drills individually
and in small groups with the dogs, so take advantage of your
chances to give your dog plenty of opportunity to rest and drink
- Please
keep your dog on leash or crated, unless you are actively working
with your dog (they'll appreciate the break!)
- Clean
up poop
- While
you are not working your dog, please put them up (in crate or
xpen), and watch what is going on with the other dogs
|
| Clicker
Training? |
We
love clickers and use them for everything. We will have a brief review
in the class, for those new or rusty with clickers. Here is more
info on
getting started; try teaching your dog to shake hands! (we'll use
this in class) |
I
missed the workshop, where else can I learn flyball?
Here
are some places that also teach flyball:
-
San
Francisco SPCA, Introduction and Intermediate
Flyball. We work directly with the SPCA dog trainers at these
classes, using our equipment.
- If
you are waiting for an Intermediate Flyball class,
you may be able to practice with us in the meantime. Send
us an email to arrange an evaluation.
- Pawdemonium in
San Jose sometimes offers Beginning Flyball workshops.

When are the next classes?

How do I join Bay Racers?
If
you have run flyball with other clubs, contact
us for an evaluation. If you and your dog would like to learn how
to do flyball, see the questions and answers above.
