UC Davis Picnic Day |
(updated
2/14)
I hope that this answers any lingering questions that you might have for UC
Davis Picnic Day. Other questions?
Who: Us and 60,000 close friends who want to see us race!
What: 4 dog team racing! Plus, whatever else you want, we are flexible. Flexi-gates will be there and you can use them. If you have puppies, you could just have some recalls, etc. Jump any height you like, and do reruns if you want. We will be using our lights, which don't give splits or reaction times, but will call false starts and early passes. We will record racing times, too.
Where: Same place we've been in previous years - Hutchison Field outside door 2 of the Recreation Center. That's approximately H8 on the campus map.
Parking info: Parking and admission is free. As far as I know, all of Picnic Day events are free. The closest parking (note that these codes refer to the campus map) is in VP 25/25A and next closest is VP35. VP 25/25A is just north of the Recreation Center. VP35 is across Orchard St. Don't try using P45. They'll be staging people in the parade there and it's not worth the hassle. A small road runs down from VP 25/A to close to the area that we'll be in so if you have a lot of stuff to move you may want to temporarily park there, unload and then go park in VP25. We'll be there early before the crowds arrive so there shouldn't be any parking issues.
When:
Saturday, April 16. First racing starts at 9am
-
Please have your space set up and ready to go by 8:30am for captains' meeting.
Racing starts at 9am.
Why: Because we are fools who love flyball!!!!

student run event. It's quite a job for these volunteer students

Other
info:
- We're going to have lights, a head judge, and as many other judging positions
as we can fill. Please help out if you can!
- This site is outdoors with lots of shade. However, you'll probably want to
bring your EZ Ups, chairs, and anything else you usually bring to an outdoor
tournament
- The plan for box judges is to have the team that just raced provide a person
to box judge that lane for the next race. The last teams racing for the day
get
the privilege of being the first teams to provide box judges for the day.
- We're also going to need help with line judges. I would appreciate it if
every team would go ahead and volunteer one person for line judging. We'll
rotate
people and try not to abuse anyone's generosity. Thanks. It's quite obvious
that we need more relatives with nothing to do on a Saturday!
If we haven't covered something/you have other questions, then please feel free to ask. We're looking forward to seeing you all there!!
From the Email (updated 2/14)Anyway, we would like to invite you to join us at UC Davis on April 16 between 9am and 3pm to demo flyball for those tens of thousands of visitors. For those of you in the Sacramento area who want to recruit, get your flyers ready to hand out!!
We're planning on running traditional 4 dog racing teams in a round robin format, and we'll have our lights there.
Remember the idea is to have fun with our friends and dogs so be creative!!
We'll be in the same place that we were last year - Hutchison Field outside door 2 of the Recreation Center.
Date:
April 16, 2005
Times: 9am to 3pm
Place: UC Davis, Hutchison
Field
Thanks and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to answer them for you.
